Block Paving Cleaning & Restoration
Your driveway is one of the largest and most prominent features of your property, contributing significantly to both presentation and first impressions.
Over time, organic contamination, environmental deposits and general weathering can gradually soften colours, reduce definition and diminish the appearance of even the most attractive block paving.
At Your House Wash, we specialise in the professional cleaning and restoration of block paving driveways, patios and pathways, helping homeowners restore kerb appeal and rediscover the potential of their outdoor spaces.

A Professional Approach to Surface Restoration
Successful restoration combines professional equipment, carefully selected cleaning methods and an understanding of how different paving surfaces respond to treatment.
Surface construction, joint condition and the nature of the contamination all contribute to the most appropriate approach for each property. Every quotation is tailored to the size, condition and requirements of the surface being treated.

How a Block Paving Clean Works, Step by Step
1Look and quote
We look at the type of paving, the area, its condition and any stains, and agree the quote with you before we start.
2Clean and rinse down
The paving is cleaned thoroughly with professional equipment. The sludge and debris are dealt with, and the surrounding area is washed down.
3Dry, then re-sand
The paving is left to dry properly, because sand goes in only when it is dry. That is why some jobs need a second visit.
Fresh kiln-dried sand is then brushed into the joints.
4Check and tidy
We check the finish and clear away what we have used before we leave.
Optional Softwash Treatment for Block Paving
Where it suits the surface, a low-pressure softwash treatment can be added to your clean. It is applied to the surface to deal with algae and green growth, left to work, and rinsed off. It is only added to your quote if you want it and we think it suits the surface.
Block paving is normally jet washed and re-sanded, and that stays the main method. A softwash treatment is an extra for paving where algae or green growth is the problem. We will tell you what to expect before we start. It is a treatment, not a promise: growth can return, because the damp and shade that let it grow are still there.
Why people choose it
- Low pressure, so it is gentler on the surface
- Aimed at the growth, not only the surface dirt
- Method and mix chosen for your surface
What to Expect, Honestly
A good clean makes a big difference to a tired drive, and re-sanding finishes it properly. We aim to bring the paving back as close as we can to how it looked when it was laid, allowing for wear and tear. It will not be brand new, and we won’t tell you it will.
- Some stains, such as oil, may not come out completely.
- Cleaning doesn’t repair sunken, loose or damaged blocks.
- Re-sanding does not stop weeds returning for ever. How fast growth comes back depends on shade, trees and use.
- We don’t seal driveways.
Keeping it looking good
Many customers like to keep a restored drive looking good with regular maintenance. It is entirely optional, and we are happy to talk through what makes sense for your drive.
Block Paving FAQs
Is re-sanding included?
Yes, on a full block paving clean. Once the paving has dried, we brush fresh kiln-dried sand back into the joints. It fills the gaps between the blocks, helps hold them steady and finishes the look.
Can you do it all in one day?
Not always. The sand needs the paving and the joints to be properly dry, so on some jobs we have to come back once it has dried. We will tell you how your job will run.
Will the weeds come back?
Re-sanding is not a promise that weeds will never return. Seeds blow in and settle on any drive. How quickly weeds and moss reappear depends on shade, trees and how the drive is used. We will tell you what to expect when we quote.
Is weed or moss treatment included?
Only when it is written in your quote. Some jobs include it and some do not, so we spell it out rather than assume.
Do you seal driveways?
No, we don’t offer sealing. We clean and re-sand.
Can you remove every stain?
Not always. Oil and other deep stains need looking at individually, and some will not come out completely. We will tell you honestly what to expect before we start.
Is the aim to make it look new again?
The aim is to bring it back as close as we can to how it looked when it was laid, allowing for the wear and tear that every drive gets. We treat it as we would our own.
Does cleaning repair loose or sunken blocks?
No. Cleaning does not fix relaying, drainage or damaged blocks. If we notice a problem while we work, we will tell you.

Restoring Presentation and Kerb Appeal
Block paving remains one of the most attractive and desirable driveway surfaces available to homeowners. Professional restoration helps reveal the character, colour and definition of the paving while enhancing the presentation of the property as a whole.
The result is a cleaner, sharper first impression that you can enjoy every time you return home.
Re-sanding for a premium finish
Following cleaning, many block paved surfaces benefit from re-sanding once the surface has fully dried. Fresh kiln-dried sand helps restore definition between individual blocks, contributes to the stability of the paved surface and improves the appearance of the finished result. It is often one of the finishing details that completes the restoration.
