Algae and Moss Treatment
What It Is
Algae and moss spread on damp, shaded surfaces. They show as green, black or red staining, or as thicker moss, and they spoil the look of a property.
We treat the growth with a low-pressure softwash. A treatment is applied to the surface, and the finish is chosen to suit the surface and the product. We tell you what to expect before we start.
The same treatment suits different surfaces differently, so we assess each one first. Render, roof tiles, block paving and natural stone each need their own approach.

What is included
- Assessment of the surface and the growth
- Treatment of the agreed areas with a method suited to the surface
- Clear advice on what to expect and any follow-up
- Surrounding plants, windows and cars protected, as agreed
What is not included
- Repairs to cracked, damaged or failing surfaces
- A promise that growth will not come back
- Removing staining that is not caused by growth, such as rust or oil
How It Works
1Look at the surface
We identify the surface, the type of growth, the condition and the access, and agree what is included.
2Apply the treatment
A low-pressure treatment is applied to the agreed surfaces, with surroundings protected.
3Check and explain
We check the result with you and explain what to expect over the following weeks and months.
What We Check First
- What the surface is, and how long the growth has been there.
- Shade, trees and damp: the things that make growth return.
- Photos of the areas you are worried about.
Questions About Algae and Moss Treatment
Is algae treatment the same as cleaning?
They overlap. Cleaning removes the growth and dirt. Treatment is aimed at the growth itself and how quickly it comes back. We can do either or both, and we will say which we recommend.
Will the algae come back?
It can. We cannot promise it will not, and we explain what to expect for your property.
Is it safe for my plants and pets?
We protect surrounding plants and tell you about any precautions for the treatment we use, before we start.
Which surfaces do you treat?
Render, roof tiles, block paving, patios and some other hard surfaces. We assess each one individually.
Do you use a pressure washer?
Not as a default. We use low-pressure methods that suit the surface.
