How Do You Stop Weeds Growing in Block Paving?
Weeds love the gaps. Here is how to keep them out for longer.

The short answer
Weeds root in the joints between blocks. Cleaning, re-sanding and a weed treatment make it harder for them to take hold, though nobody can promise a permanently weed-free drive.
Why weeds appear
Dirt and seeds collect in the joints, and with a bit of moisture, weeds take root. Worn joints with little sand make it easier.
What helps
- Cleaning the surface and joints
- Re-sanding with fresh sand after a clean
- A weed treatment where agreed
- Sweeping and tidying leaves and debris regularly
Realistic expectations
Weeds can return. A regular visit or maintenance treatment helps keep on top of them.
