Cleaning methods explained
What Is Softwashing, and When Is It Used?
A gentler way to clean surfaces that high pressure can damage.

The short answer
Softwashing uses low pressure and a cleaning or biocide treatment to break down algae, moss and dirt, instead of blasting it off with force. It is commonly used on render, roofs and other delicate surfaces.
How it works
A treatment is applied to the surface at low pressure and left to work on the growth. The surface is then rinsed gently where needed. The treatment does the work, not the pressure.
Where it is used
- Render, K-Rend, monocouche and painted walls
- Roof tiles
- Cladding and fascias
- Some patios and natural stone, depending on the surface
What it does not do
Softwashing is a cleaning and treatment method. It does not repair damaged surfaces, and growth can return because the damp and shade are still there. We explain what to expect for your property.
