How Do You Clean a Patio Properly?
Patios come in different materials, and the right method depends on what yours is made of.

The short answer
The right method depends on the paving material, its age and its condition. Natural stone, porcelain, concrete and block paving all behave differently, so a patio is looked at before it is cleaned.
Why patios go green and slippery
Shade, damp and leaf litter let algae and moss grow on paving. A green patio can also be slippery when wet, which is one reason people clean them.
Why the material matters
Natural stone, concrete, porcelain and block paving take cleaning differently. Some stones are soft or porous and can be damaged by too much pressure. We check what you have before choosing a method.
After the clean
Joints may need re-pointing or sanding, and weeds can regrow. We will say what we notice and what we recommend, and what is included in your quote.
Questions
Will you damage my patio?
We choose the method to suit the surface, and we say so honestly if we think a surface is not suitable for a particular method.
Will the green come back?
It can, particularly in shade. We explain what to expect for your patio.
Do you re-point or re-sand?
Please ask. Re-sanding and repairs are separate from a basic clean and are set out in the quote.
